Co-Head Coach Brad Voss Brad is into his second tour as head coach of the Marlins. He has been a coach with the Marlins continuously since 1986 doing two tours as assistant coach. During this time, Brad has coached countless state, zone, and national qualifiers. Many of these swimmers have gone on to excel in college programs to include an Olympic trials qualifier and Open water gold medalist in the World Championships. Brad is married to Pam, and has three children, Erin, Lauren and Jeff. Erin and Lauren are past Marlins and Jeff is on the current roster.

Co-Head
Coach Karl Klomp Coach Karl has rejoined the Marlin family after a storied career as a Marlin swimmer himself. Karl was a Marlin record holder both as an individual and as part of relays in numerous events. Karl was primarily a freestyle sprinter and has the distinction of being the first Marlin to qualify for YMCA Nationals in an individual event. Karl has taught swim lessons at Fraser High School for years and brings a wealth of knowledge and common sense coaching to the Marlins. Karl's has two children swimming for the Marlins, Jacob and Alexandra. Coach Karl is the second member of his family to coach for the Marlins. His brother Kurt coached the Marlins for a number of years in the mid to late 1980s. |

Coach Katie Harrigan Katie has been a swimming competitor for 13 years on various club teams, including 4 years at Portage Northern High School, where she was a high school state qualifier , and 3 years at Wayne State University, where she set numerous Wayne State University records, including 100 and 200 Backstroke. She is a 5-time All-American at Wayne State. This is Katie's sixth season as an assistant coach with the Marlins where she has coached numerous state, zone, and national qualifiers. Katie also coached the Huntington Woods community swim club during the summer and is thoroughly enjoying the conversion from swimmer to coach, and is continuing to learn as much as she can about the sport of swimming. |

Coach Liz Barrett Liz swam for the Marlins from the age of 11-17. While with the Marlins, Liz qualified for State every year with the exception of her first year on the team. She participated and placed at the Great Lakes Zone Championship meet in both individual and relay events. Liz also swam for Henry Ford High School, qualifying for the Macomb County Championship meet in numerous events and for MHSAA State in the 50-yd freestyle. Liz lifeguards and teaches swim lessons at L'Anse Creuse North High School. She attends Oakland University where she is majoring in Health, Wellness and Injury Prevention with a minor in Exercise Science. Liz is very happy to be rejoining the team and looks forward to working with the Marlin Family and enjoying a great swim season! |

Coach Maria Johnston The 2009-2010 season was Maria's first year with the Marlins coaching staff. She swam for the Marlins from 1993-2006. Maria also swam at L'Anse Creuse High School for 4 years where she was a Macomb County champion in all 3 relays, 200 IM, 100 Breast, and 100 Back. She set numerous county records and qualified for the MHSAA state championships. Maria is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at Wayne State University. She also swims for the Warriors and made their National Team which was an NCAA Division II runner-up in 2009. She is very excited to be back with the Marlins and hopes for a fun, successful swim season. |

Coach Laura Leix Laura grew up in Flint, Michigan where she swam for the Flint YMCA Falcons for 9 years. In 2006, she placed 14th in the 200 yard butterfly at YMCA Nationals. After a successful prep career, including being co-valedictorian at Flint Southwestern Academy, Laura swam 4 years at Wayne State University. She helped the Warriors win GLIAC championships in 2007, 2008, and 2010. Laura was also part of the WSU Women's National Team in 2007, 2009, and 2010, where in 2009 and 2010, the women were NCAA Division II Runner-up. During her college career, her specialty was butterfly and IM. She is an Environmental Science major, with a minor in Geology. Laura is very excited to return to her swimming roots with YMCA Swimming. |
